Welcome back to the cyber world of reading your teacher’s blog, and posting a response.
I hope you enjoyed the video clip we watched about Venice. Venice is one of those timeless cities that will draw visitors for as long as is stays afloat. Please notice I ended that previous statement with “as long as it stays afloat.” There is some controversy that Venice is actually sinking, while others argue Venice is going to be around for a long time. Click on the above link to learn further fascinating information about Venice. Go ahead and explore the website, and view the video clips. I think you will enjoy, I sure did! After you’ve spent some time, post your thoughts about Venice and its possible demise. I will remind everyone I expect well thought-out comments, with proper grammar and spelling.

You're right those films were very interesting! You are very right in saying that Venice is beautiful!!! I believe that Venice will some time colaps because of the ruft tide water that hits the under water cement that in a process of time will eventually wear away, causing Venice sink to its watery death!
I definetly think that Venice is very beautiful and has very beautiful features.I don't really know why they are worrying about Venice going underwater because it is probably not going to happen for centuries. At least I hope it is a century because I definetly want to go and visit my favorite country.
I agree with you Jacob the video clip
was interesting I also agree with Matthew ,why are people worrying so much
about Venice sinking ,it's just a rumor, unless it does sink then Venice will meet its watery demise!!!
I did like the video Mr. Mercereau!
I agree with Jacob that Venice will eventually collaspe. But, probably not any time soon because it will take a long time to sink! Like Jacob said because of the ruff tide water hits the under water cement that in a process of time will eventually wear away, so I do not think it will be any time soon! People should stop worrying about it so much!
Yes Mr.Mercereau,
They are very beautiful. I agree with Scott, it's just a rumor. If it was sinking then they would probably get water on the sidewalk in after a period of time. They would notice the water rising. I also agree with Jacob the tide wave will wear away the underwater cement. Claire's right too because it is not going away any time soon. If it was sinking then they wold probably feel it.
yes i liked the shows i think that some day not soon though because i want to go see it that it will fall and you never know the rumor that it is underground might be true you never know
i also agree with jacob and claire plus it is very old
I really enjoyed the video clip Mr. Mercereau. That was an awesome website! Those gates that were shown in the video were cool and very interesting. You were right, Venice is beautiful. Even though it is very possible for Venice to sink, those gates probably won't be letting it leave us anytime soon.
I definetly think that those videos are cool on the website. I dont think that the city is in danger of sinking. From watching the video its would take a lot for those gates to just stop working. I agree with jacob though, someday it will eventually collapse. I hope it doesnt anytime soon though because like matthew,I would like to visit venice someday also.
Wow! I think that would be very scary to live in a city that might sink any time!! And it is very interesting how the gates work and separate the lagoon. And that would be pretty scary when your city floods and you have nothing left. But on the other hand it is very beautiful and very historic. The way you travel would be cool beacause you can take scenic routes on foot or by boat. But at the same time I would not want to live there.
I personally think that the wall idea is a big waist of time. according to the way this guy was talking about it, it would have already flooded by 30 minutes. What if one wall breaks? What if the water floods over the dam? I think its not the best way to spend 1.9 BILLION dollars.
Those films were really cool and interesting!! Venice is a gorgeous city. I agree with Matthew. I mean, why should we really worry about Venice sinking? It's a city, not an island. Anyway, city's are almost impossible to sink. If it was to sink, it would be taking a huge chunck out of Italy. We should not worry about Venice sinking. God is in control.
I did think the video's were very interesting. I also agree with everyone who think's Venice is a beautiful city. I think the stories about Venice going compelety under water are wrong at least I hope they are. But if Venice ever does go compelely under water I think it will be a long time from now.
I think that eventaully Venice will sink, but not any time soon!
The city is very old, but very beautiful and historic. It also was built on a river so it could flood any day and wipe out the whole city but the chances of that happening are not very high. I thought the video clip was pretty neat and it looked really cool in Venice. I think it would be really neat to go there!
I personally am not worried that Venice will be going under water any time soon! I do think that the sea level is more than likely rising, but not that fast. But, the river might be a problem. But then again, I don't know. I did some reserch and it said Italy's average rain-fall was a little over 18 inches a year. So I dont think we need to worry too much on the river flooding.
I would like to maybe go to Venice someday. My mom went there and said some parts of it (mostly the cannal) were dirty. You have to go to the rite places if you went.
I think Venice is a beautiful city and I hardly know what to think about its sinking issue. I think Venice will be here longer especially if we do things to prevent it from sinking. But, if your planning on going, I suggest you go soon just in case it does sink faster than we think.
I personally think that the possible demise of Venice is quite alarming. This is the first time I have heard about it. Because Venice is such a great tourist destination, it will hurt the economy in Italy if it sinks. So I think the gate idea is pretty important. I think they could take out the jetties and that might help replenish the beaches and slow the erosion. I think the Italian people have a good reason to try to get the erosion to stop.
I think that Venice will be a city for a very long time. I also think that the idea of the concrete gates holding back the water during storms or when the tide is high is a great idea. However, they could have a storm like Hurricane Katrina and be surprised that the sea is stronger than they think. Only God knows what will happen
Venice is very beautiful. I agree with Jacob it may collaspe because of ruff tide. It also may collasp if there was a hurricain hiting Venice. It may not happen for a while but it will probably happen. I hope Venice does not collasp because I want to go there. I agree with everybody the video clip was very intresing.
Yes, that video was really amazing!
I agree with Matthew, why are people so worried? It's probably not going to happen. But still
you never know.
Mr.Mercereau, I don't know what is wrong with my comupter, because it says it's the 31st, when it's really the 30th.
I agree with everyone that the videos were interesting. I think something should be done to make sure that Venice does not totally sink. We would not want for a city that is so old and historic to not be there. Maybe there is a better way to do it that someone will think of that does not cost so much.
I think that venice will eventualy sink, but I think it will take many years for this to happen. It will be a tragedy thuogh when it sinks. I agree it is very beautiful!
