As I discover more and more about this interesting animal, I learned about a National Reserve in Chile dedicated to preserving the species. Yes, you read that correctly. Land has been set aside in Chile to protect this animal from extinction. I find that fascinating since I bought two Chinchillas relatively cheap. I must also point out Chinchillas continue to be sold in both Mooresville and Hickory for a reasonable price. If these rodents are nearing extinction and needing protection, why are they being sold in chain stores across America?
